The Royal Navy destroyer HMS Diamond has returned to Portsmouth after a six-month deployment in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, where it protected shipping from attacks by Yemen’s Houthi rebels. The ship shot down nine drones and a missile, sailed nearly 44,000 miles, and spent 151 days at sea. The deployment included significant operations, such as shooting down seven drones in one day and intercepting a missile targeting a merchant vessel. The crew expressed pride in their mission and relief to be home with their families. HMS Duncan will replace HMS Diamond in the region.
